Wealth is never created by government. Prosperity is never - TopicsExpress

Wealth is never created by government. Prosperity is never legislated by government. And government doesn’t pull people out of poverty … if it did, the multiple billions of dollars spent on LBJ’s War on Poverty, begun in the 1960s, would have eradicated it by now in the States, or at least put America on the road to a poverty-free nation. Instead, a larger portion of Americans today rely on food stamps and other government assistance programs than ever before. Absent in America today is a true push to teach people how to take care of themselves. Instead, we allow government to provide a lifestyle to people who should be responsible for their own lifestyle. “Government wants to do everything without empowering people to provide for themselves,” Dr. Quachey told us. “Government needs to teach people to do things for themselves, not teach them to rely on dependency. If you don’t empower the people – if you don’t teach them to be entrepreneurial and take care of their own lives – then the people will perpetually remain in poverty because the government can’t afford to keep that support going. Entrepreneurship is the key to moving people out of poverty.” American politicians, alas, don’t appear to share that belief. Just the opposite, in fact … government policies and programs incentivize dependency, and too many Americans are increasingly accepting of a welfare-dependent lifestyle. Where Ghanaian prosperity is growing, American prosperity is actually in decline. These days, the best examples of American ideals and entrepreneurialism are actually happening outside America.
