Wealth leads to more financial opportunities for greater and greater wealth in an accelerating upward spiral, poverty leads to lack of opportunity, leading to more poverty in an accelerating downward spiral. Over the past 40 years, republicans have successfully labeled our progressive tax system income redistribution and the inheritance tax the death tax, leading to their radical readjustment and reduction along with winning numerous other advantages for the advantaged, our economic disparity between the wealthy and the rest of us has gotten much, much worse, threatening the very foundations of our society.
