Weather Bulletin Number Fifteen (Final) Tropical Cyclone Alert: Tropical Storm “#NandoPH” (KONG-REY) Issued at 11:00 AM, 29 August 2013 Tropical storm “NANDO”is now outside Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and continues to move away from the country. Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “NANDO” was estimated based on all available data at 460 km North of Basco, Batanes or at 20 km East of northern Taiwan (25.1°N, 122.3°E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. Movement: Forecast to move North at 19 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “NANDO” is expected to be at 840 km North of Basco, Batanes or 380 km North of Taiwan tomorrow morning. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 500 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. • “NANDO” will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms over Calayan, Babuyan and Batanes group of Islands which may trigger possible flashfloods and landslides. • Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon. • With this development this is the final bulletin on this weather disturbance. • Meanwhile, at 10:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 1,220 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (19.0°N, 135.4°E).
