Weather Forecast for Kent – Saturday 16th August ’14. A ridge of high pressure that is currently gently nudging in from the south west is going to get pushed away by a cold front moving in from the north in the next 24 hours. So, in other words, make the most of today’s settled weather. TODAY . . . Putting it simply, today is going to be a fair day involving variable cloud amounts and sunny breaks, although there may tend to be a bit more in the way of cloud for a time in the afternoon. However, since it’ll be saying dry all day (for a change), you can leave the line washing outdoors in high confidence. Temperatures at 18 C to 20 C (64 F to 68 F) under a moderate westerly breeze. All in all, a useful type of day. TONIGHT . . . Lengthy clear breaks and varied cloud cover and it will stay dry. Cloud may to increase in from the north by dawnbreak, though – could produce a strong coloured sunrise as the light from the rising sun try to undercut the approaching cloud bank. Although it may not be as cool as of late at 13 C to 15 C (55 F to 59), a brisk westerly breeze will keep it feeling fresh and airy through the night anyway. TOMORROW (Sunday) . . . Becoming cloudy in the morning until it’ll be thick enough to produce some rain by noon time and into the early afternoon, however I don’t think the rain will amount to that much. Hopefully the sun should try and break through again by late afternoon or early evening time to make for a fine end to the day. However, a fresh to occasionally strong westerly wind will make tomorrow’s maximum of 18 C (64 F) feel very fresh and airy. NEXT WEEK . . . Sunny spells and showers at first, hopefully becoming drier for longer later on in the week. Temperatures sticking close to average, cool at nights. BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY – This is just for fun as it is light years away in forecasting terms - and I know people are going to ask me about that soon, so here it is; the form horse is for it to be a fresh and breezy one with some rain thanks to weather systems pushing back in from the Atlantic. With that to mind, confidence for it to be a BBQ/Beach day is being very low at this stage.
