Weather Forecast for Kent – WEDNESDAY 1st October ’14. SYNOPSIS: While high pressure is still hanging on over us here at Kent, a weak cold front is getting tangled up in it anyway. TODAY . . . While it will be quite cloudy for most of the time, occasional bright intervals may still get to break through once in a while anyway. Even though there is a risk of an odd light shower or two in the first half of today, it should stay dry for most of the time. So, with all that to mind, hang the line washing at your own risk and hope for the best. Temperatures still staying well above average for this time of the year at 18 C to 20 C (64 F to 68 F) under a light to moderate south westerly breeze. TONIGHT . . . Dry and settled with varied cloud amounts and clear breaks. A risk of local mist and fog patches forming in the usual prone low lying locations as winds falls calm. Still on the mild side with minimum temperatures ranging between 17 C (63 F) around coastal areas to as low as 12 C (54 F) in any mist patches that does form. REST OF WEEK . . . Tomorrow (Thursday) is likely to be a better day in terms of sunny spells, although there is a small risk of an isolated light shower popping up somewhere over the middle part of the country. Much the same thing can be expected on Friday. Temperatures continuing to be on the warm side. WEEKEND & BEYOND . . . . On Saturday, after a dry and bright start, a band of cloud and some rain associated with a more active cold front will move in from the Atlantic by the afternoon, it will also be accompanied with freshening winds. However, having said that, I am finding myself wondering how much rain there will be left by the time the cold front does arrive here (probably amount to nothing more than a couple of hours of blowy-type drizzle before clearing away in the evening). Sunday looks like being a better day out of the weekend with more in the way of sunny breaks as what’s left of the cold front will have moved onto the near Continent, but it’ll be feeling noticeably cooler and fresher by then. Next week does look set to be changeable and often windy with showers/sunny spells and longer spells of rain as low pressure takes control. Temperatures closer to average values (around 15 C). All quite autumnal in flavour, but I am getting ahead of myself at this point.
