Weather Situation A low pressure system near the central New South Wales coast will drift southwards and deepen, reaching the eastern tip of Victoria Tuesday morning before moving towards Flinders Island at night. The low will remain near northern Tasmania on Wednesday before moving quickly away to the southeast on Thursday as a high pressure system develops south of Western Australia. The high will extend a strengthening ridge towards Victoria on Thursday and Friday. Forecast for the rest of Monday Areas of rain in the far north and east. Isolated showers elsewhere, scattered in Gippsland. Snow above 1600 metres. Fresh to strong east to southeasterly winds. Tuesday 12 November Areas of rain in the east extending to central areas during the day, but patchy over the west. Some heavy falls possible over the southeast and near the Otway ranges. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the northeast during the afternoon. Snow above 1700 metres. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with moderate south to southeast winds, fresh to strong in Gippsland and near the coast. Fire Danger - Low to Moderate, reaching High in the Mallee.
