Weather Story NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan, WI Light snow showers or flurries are forecast to continue today as a trough of low pressure moves into the region. The best chances for accumulating snow will be across the far north where lake effect snow showers may bring heavier bursts of snow to Vilas county this afternoon. The lake effect snow showers will persist over North-Central Wisconsin tonight with the snow belt area of Vilas county receiving 8 to 12 inches totals by daybreak. The rest of the region should seeing lingering snow showers or flurries end this evening with mostly cloudy skies for the overnight hours. The lake effect snows across the northwoods are expected to gradually diminish on Tuesday as a ridge of high pressure approaches Wisconsin. Some mixed sunshine is anticipated over the rest of Northeast Wisconsin, however unusually cold conditions will persist through much of the upcoming week before moderating temperatures begin next weekend.
