Weather Update Fort Kent, Maine & Vicinity 6:45 AM ET | Monday, December 1, 2014 Todays Weather A cold front will cross the region this morning followed by a strong high pressure ridge that will usher in much colder air. The high temperature for Fort Kent has likely already occurred: 37.3°F / 2.9°C at 12:46 AM ET this morning. Temperatures will continue to fall through the day reaching about 0°F tonight. Mostly cloudy skies with scattered snow showers are possible this morning followed by clearing skies and northwest winds in the 8-10 mph range. Wind chill values will fall into the single digits this afternoon and as cold as -15°F tonight. Presently, 0.10 inches / 2.5 mm of precipitation has been recorded since midnight. Tomorrows Weather Tuesday, December 2, 2014 Mostly clear and quite cold conditions are expected Tuesday as high pressure builds across the Valley. High temperatures will only reach about 13°F. Clouds increase later in the afternoon as another warm front lifts towards the region. Tuesday nights low will be slightly warmer, thanks to cloud cover and southerly flow, at around 7°F. Overrunning precipitation in the form of snow is expected Tuesday night which will transition to freezing rain and then rain Wednesday. Between 1/4 and 1/2 an inch of liquid equivalent is anticipated from this system with 2-4 inches of new snow possible. Light north winds shift to the south as the day progresses increasing to 10-12 mph. Further Ahead Rain transitions back to frozen precipitation Wednesday night ending as snow showers Thursday morning as a cold front crosses the Valley. Another ridge of high pressure builds in Thursday afternoon with clearing skies pushing temperatures down from highs in the middle 20s towards the 0°F mark once again. Friday and Saturday look to be mostly sunny with highs in the upper teens Friday and upper 20s Saturday with an overnight low Friday night in the single digits. Snow is possible Saturday night and Sunday morning as another system approaches the region.
