Weather Update Fort Kent Maine & the Upper St. John Valley 7:10 AM EDT | Saturday, 26 October 2013 Saturday, 26 October, begins with mostly clear skies in northern Maine, but clouds are expected to increase as the morning continues. A low pressure system late in the occlusion phase will be approaching bring clouds and a chance of light precipitation as the day progresses. Mt. Katahdin may get a dusting as an inch or so of snowfall is possible in the higher regions. Otherwise, scattered snow showers are expected across the Valley with only around 0.03 to 0.06 inches expected in terms of total precipitation. Overnight, a rain/snow shower mix is expected during the evening and night periods with less than a half inch of accumulating snowfall anticipated. The dissipating low pressure system will move eastwards of the area with high pressure building in with more cool air though clouds help keep temperatures in the middle 30s. Sunday, 27 October, looks to be mostly cloudy with cool conditions as high temperatures creep back into the lower 40s. Mostly cloudy conditions continue Sunday night with lows dropping into the upper 20s with another area of low pressure approaching the region Sunday night bringing another rain/snow shower mix. Monday, 28 October, will likely have rain/snow showers and mostly cloudy conditions through the day as the cold front associated with the low pressure crosses the Valley. Currently, precipitation amounts look slight--in the range of 0.03 inches total. Highs remain in the lower 40s. Monday night should see any precipitation winding down though mostly cloudy conditions continue with lows in the middle 20s. Tuesday looks clear and cold with highs around 40F and lows overnight falling into the upper teens for most Valley locations.
