Today: Mostly dry with only isolated showers, light winds and bright or sunny spells although fog patches may be slow to clear. Strengthening winds and increased cloud will reach the far southwest later, possibly giving rain in the far west. Tonight: Heavy rain and strong winds in the southwest will push northeast, with the rain reaching all but the far east. Turning drier in the southwest by dawn. Generally mild. Friday: The rainband will continue to move northeastwards, still affecting northern and western Scotland by evening. Drier elsewhere with some brightness but staying windy with further showers, mainly across the west. Potentially turning very stormy on Monday, particularly across southern areas. UK Outlook for Monday 28 Oct 2013 to Wednesday 6 Nov 2013: Wet and windy weather sweeps across much of the country on Monday with the potential for severe gales in the south, although there remains marked uncertainty with regard to the precise track of the strongest swathe of winds. However, it may stay drier and brighter across northern parts. Brighter and showery on Tuesday, but it will remain windy and feeling much colder. After a drier, brighter and less windy interlude around midweek with some night frost, the unsettled milder weather resumes thereafter. Showers or longer outbreaks of rain, locally heavy, will affect many areas, especially the north and west, with strong winds and gales also likely in the west at times. The best drier and brighter interludes will be across southeastern parts, but this may allow occasional fog overnight.
