Web Application Programmer: Details: To view the full job description and to apply please refer to this link: ipm.ucanr.edu/jobs/ The Statewide IPM Program (ipm.ucanr.edu/) is a statewide unit reporting to the UC Vice President of Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR). The unit administers programs in agricultural, urban and community, and natural resources integrated pest management research and extension, including Cooperative Extension outreach, a communications unit that develops informational products for print and the Web, and a pesticide safety training program. This position serves as a web programmer and designer for the development of a pest management decision support and diagnostic web application. Using industry standard programming tools and techniques to deliver a web and mobile web application that will help guide users to relevant IPM content. This position will participate in analyzing, recommending, designing and developing these applications from concept through coding, testing, and implementation. Major emphasis is on responsive web development that can be used on all major devices and platform. Promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, Accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division. THIS IS A 2 YEAR APPOINTMENT WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION. Job Duties: Develop web applications using HTML5 standard technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JavaScript frameworks, JSON, etc.) Develop process maps to present functional designs and business processes. Develop prototypes for demonstration and proof-of-concept. Works proactively and closely with project stakeholders to present information thoughtfully and consistent with audience needs and communication objectives, while following best practices for developing for the Web. Assists in site planning, organization, testing and implementation of websites and ensures that all sites maintain an effective organization and user experience. Ensures content is organized and optimized for optimum search engine results. Brainstorms and collaborates with creative and content staff and client-colleagues to define needs and troubleshoot issues. Independently gather and analyze stakeholders feedback as input to the decision-making processes. Designing comprehensive wireframes and prototypes for presenting information gathered from stakeholders. Work with an internal user group and other IT professionals to gather and assess functional requirements. Layout and organize pest management-related content. Design web interface that is responsive to desktop, mobile and tablet browsers for use on multiple platforms (i.e. Mac OS, Windows, iOS, and Android). Ensure user interface are compliant with W3C accessibility guidelines.
