Web Pastor Michael September 24, 2013 The Bible is useless to us if we only listen with the drumbeat of our ears and not the the drumbeat of our hearts. Let us watch our step when we go to the house of God. Let us go near to listen rather than to offer the gifts of fools, who do not know that they do wrong. Let us not be quick with our mouths, let us not be hasty in our hearts to speak anything before God. God is in heaven and we are on earth, so let our words be few. A dream comes when there are many cares, and many words mark the speech of a fool. When we agreed to follow Christ we made a promise to God, let us not delay in fulfilling it. He has no pleasure in fools; so let us fulfill our promise. It is better not to make a promise than to make one and not fulfill it. Let not our mouths lead us into sin. And let us not protest to the elders of the church, "Our promise was a mistake.” Why should God be angry at what we say and destroy the work of our hands? Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore we should fear God. The people talk together about the sermon at work, at home, thru email, on facebook, on the radio, on tv, on their cell phones and they say to each other, Visit our church and come hear our pastor teach the Word of the LORD. And people come to hear the pastor, as they usually do, and sit in church to hear his words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts refuse to let Love reign. Indeed, to them the pastor is nothing more than a motivational speaker with a feel good message, for they hear his words but do not put them into practice. 1John 3:16-24 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. Father I pray, let that heart be in me, your son, servant, and ambassador. Clean out the flesh and let the new spirit born again in me raise to top. Let me be the man Christ wants me to be. Let the love of this world fade fast and the love for your will to overtake me daily. AMEN
