Web Services Specialist Status: Full-time Department: Information Technology Reporting to the Manager of Information Services & Digital Initiatives, the Web Services Specialist will play an important role in maintaining the Villa I Tatti (VIT) collection of websites and online services, as well as assisting in the execution of the Villa I Tatti web strategy. The incumbent will also work with members of the VIT community, training and guiding them in the conceptualization and hands-on creation of web content using the centers content management system (Drupal), as well as resolving build, implementation and support issues. This is a full-time position, with an Italian contract of one year, with possibility of renewal to a long-term contratto a tempo indeterminato. Salary based on qualifications and experience. Responsibilities: 
The VIT website is a central hub of institutional information for prospective fellows, researchers, members of affiliate institutions and the general public. The Web Services Specialist will:
 Resolve or drive the resolution of web implementation issues from start to finish, ensuring all best practices are applied to the process and end product. Collaborate with members of the IT Department in evaluating potential web opportunities, providing recommendations, and managing relationships with selected vendors, consultants, and external developers as appropriate. Triage and troubleshoot issues related to the Drupal platform, ticketing systems, CRM systems, and various web assets. Perform QA on web (mobile and desktop) functionality and respond to tickets submitted in the VIT ticket-tracking system.
 Demonstrate a strong customer service ethic and a positive can-do attitude among members of the VIT community on web-related activities. Develop sound project timelines, prioritize tasks for team, and define scope in partnership with the stakeholders involved. Assist with creating user test plans and executing user testing. Monitor, assess, and report on website and web application performance. Manage web and application hosting. Research new technologies that may provide value to VIT. Design and develop new and improved solutions leveraging Drupal and a wide variety of APIs. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree required. 1-2 years of related experience, with at least 1 year of Drupal experience. Experience in utilizing HTML, Javascript, CSS, and AJAX to create rich, responsive, and intuitive web interfaces. Solid working knowledge of Linux systems and version control. Demonstrated fluency in English, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Additional Qualifications: Academic or non-profit experience preferred. Relational database design experience utilizing MySQL. Amazon Web Services (AWS), CloudFront/S3/CDN experience. Experience with securing web applications, working with web application firewalls, authentication systems and SSL certificates. Familiarity with source code control systems like Git, with issue tracking tools, and continuous integration. Working experience with PHP and developing and maintaining Drupal modules. Web server administrative experience (LAMP stack). Strong documentation skills Demonstrated experience responding to and managing expectations of a variety of stakeholders. Training and detailed documentation skills with the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities under deadline. Understanding of how user experience is translated to wireframes. Awareness of Scrum agile methodology for managing software development is a plus. Enthusiasm for exploring and learning about emerging web technologies and platforms. Results-oriented with a premium on accurate, timely execution. Desire to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, envision the repercussions of technical choices, and project future needs against an established budget.
