Website UNWFP VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT VA Number: 003/03/2014 The World Food Programme (WFP), the food assistance organization of the United Nations is seeking applications from qualified national candidates to fill the following position(s): POSITION: HIV Project Assistant CONTRACT TYPE: SSA DURATION: 11 months LEVEL: Support Staff Category/Level 1/ Project Assistant (Level 5) DUTY STATION: Lusaka, Zambia Description of tasks: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer the HIV Project Assistant will undertake the following tasks: HIV/AIDS and Nutrition Provide inputs and contribute to integration of food and nutrition interventions within national HIV/ AIDS agenda Support the coordination and management of HIV-specific and HIV-sensitive interventions within the CO Programmes Participate and provide inputs for programme proposal writing to donors and for standard WFP programming relating to prevention, as well as treatment, care, & support, of populations affected by HIV/AIDS Support the design and implementation of WFP and country led assessments to identify appropriate nutrition interventions for individuals and households affected by HIV/AIDS and make appropriate recommendations to management Work with the M&E officers to compile statistics and trends on households receiving anti-retroviral therapy (ART) or TB treatment who benefit from CO Programmes Work closely with the Senior Programme Officer and other WFP staff assigned to advocate with stakeholders on the importance of incorporating food and nutrition interventions within the Global Fund Proposal Actively participate and represent WFP in national processes around HIV/AIDS in Zambia Actively participate and represent WFP in the UN system UNDAF Outcome Group 1 (support national response to HIV and AIDS) Participate in initiatives to prevent, treat, & mitigate HIV/AIDS in Zambia Partnerships Provide technical support to the Country Director and Senior Programme Officer during donor and government consultative meetings Support the engagement of government and all key stakeholders at technical level to guide HIV/AIDS policy formulation and implementation including the National AIDS Council (NAC), Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Community Development and Maternal Child Health (MCDMCH), Donors, Civil Society Organizations, UN agencies, DFID, Irish Aid, USAID, World Bank, EU, SIDA, groups of PLHIV etc. Participate in the UN Programme of Joint Support on HIV and AIDS (UNJT) Meetings UNDAF Participate in UNDAF Outcome Groups (especially Outcome Group 1 – supporting national response to HIV epidemic) and ensure timely feedback to management. Alternate focal point person for UNJT Meeting and sub-outcome groups on prevention, as well as treatment, care, & support Report back to and provide technical guidance to the UNJT Group Report back to and provide technical guidance to sub-outcome group on prevention, as well as treatment, care, & support Carry out advocacy and information related tasks for projects/ programme activities such as making presentations in meetings, workshops, seminars, missions, etc. Results/Expected Output WFP’s engagement in the HIV&AIDS response is established in both the relevant Outcome Groups and government fora A proposal integrating HIV&AIDS into either nutrition or social protection of both has been developed; HIV&AIDS portfolio within the Country Office strengthened Qualifications/Requirements: Degree/ Diploma in social/ development sector essential; At least 3 years of experience in HIV&AIDS Programmes.
