Wed like to see more states adopt our Iowa DOT Model as well! KIMT News 3 – They drive thousands of miles all around the country, now truck drivers are helping to fight human trafficking. They’re called “Truckers Against Trafficking” and they’re teaming up with the Iowa Department of Transportation to educate those who know the roads best. “There are 7 million truck drivers out there and not nearly that many law-enforcement, so the more eyes and ears we have across the country, the better,” said Officer Jared Arbegast with the Motor Vehicle Enforcement. More than 50,000 semi-trucks are inspected at this checkpoint in Worth County each year, along one of the country’s busiest interstates. With each driver passing through, officer Jared Arbegast is reaching out to give more awareness to the issue of human trafficking. kimt/2015/01/22/recruiting-drivers-to-fight-human-trafficking/
