Wedding Wheels, the traveling wheels of yesterday. This is my lastest restoration of a 1904 German/Bavarian Wedding Wheel. Note the pieces of ivory in the tops of the Maidens and the end of the Maiden Table. If you look at the hub picture, you will note that there were spindles broken off between the main wheel spindles. I have seen other wheels like this and suspect that Ivory carvings were decorating between the full spindles. The plate names the bride and where she was from (Heslem), according to my E. German freind. If any one has any information on the person or place this wheel came from...especially the maker, I would love to have it for the owner. Time and poor care has ravaged this little darling, but she still spins lace quality thread with ease. An eternal beauty.
