Wedding guests who parked outside Borrisokane church last Friday came out to find five cars had been broken into during the ceremony. The thieves made off with laptops, a large quantity of cash, mobile phones and handbags. Five houses around North Tipperary were burgled on the one day, July 11, according to gardai. A sum of €100 in cash and jewellery valued at €200 was taken from a house in Capparoe, Nenagh, sometime before 2.30pm. The house was unoccupied at the time and a neighbour heard the alarm being set off. The neighbour reported seeing a male fleeing the scene and being driven away by a female in a car that may have also contained a child in the back seat. Thieves took €1,000 in cash from a house at Wilton, Gortlandroe, Nenagh, that same afternoon, The break-in was reported to the Gardai at 5pm and two young males were reported as being seen acting suspiciously in the area. An unoccupied house was broken into at Rathbeg, Roscrea, but as the owner is away at present it is not known if anything was stolen during the incident. There were three other break-ins, at Inchidrinagh, Newport; Chapel Street, Toomevara, and Garrane, Toomevara, that same afternoon, but though the houses were ransacked, nothing was stolen. It is thought the culprits may have been looking for cash. Anyone who may have seen anybody acting suspiciously in these areas on July 11 is asked to contact Nenagh Garda station on 067-31333 or any Garda station.
