It’s an honorable role, but working here means that he is unable to regularly see his wife, Xiaomei, whose hometown is on China’s eastern coast. They must rely on video messaging to talk and to see each other while they’re thousands of miles apart. Having suffered for a long time apart, last month the wife made the brave decision to join her husband on the frontline.
