Wednesday 05, March 2014 TOPIC: Demand Of Perseverance. TEXT: JUDGES 8:4-21 Key verse: “And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them” (Judges 8:4). Accomplished long distance runners always attribute their success to sheer endurance skill. It is the singularly important factor that keeps them going after all the body faculties might have been stretched and strained to the limit. Without this psychological boost, the fittest of marathon runners would not last the distance. Gideon and his three hundred men hastened and pursued the retreating host of Midian. They did not relent, until Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian, who for years had kept Israel under bondage and servitude, had been killed to complete a Jehovah-inspired victory. The uncooperative attitude of Succoh and Penuel did not discourage Gideon and his men. They pressed forward to the mark and completed the victory through perseverance. The people of Succoh and Penuel acted in fear of a possible reprisal should Gideon fail in his campaign. They forgot that Gideon and his army were chosen of God for the battle of the Lord. Life is an endless terrain of unyielding battles and it is only the fittest and the patient that can survive. A writer once remarked that evil never surrenders without a grim battle. Hardly do we get into spiritual inheritance through the slothful and leisurely passage of the game park; it is always through the fierce contention of the war-theatre. Victory is assured for those who can persevere, who dare seize the bull by the horns, notwithstanding the intimidating and unending obstacles. For every Christian, there are battles and obstacles to overcome. Mercifully, God gives power to the faint and increases strength for the weary. Assured of His divine enablement, the believer ought to relax in the comforting hands of the Almighty, confident that when the going gets tough and seemingly impossible, there is always an Anchor that keeps the soul. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Perseverance begets victory. ***Keep following # DailyManna , Share our posts and invite friends to Like.
