Wednesday 19th March 2014. Another week gone by and you must be wondering why my posts are getting less frequent. To be honest Im still not feeling brilliant but I have had one or two good days this week which is an improvement! Last Friday had the Cytarabine again which is the Intrathecal that made me feel really poorly but I managed to cook salmon fillet, new potatoes and asparagus and thoroughly enjoyed it. Again, quiet weekend and for Saturday dinner cooked us a Thai stir fry dish, one of my favourites, Beef with black pepper and lime served on a bed of Chinese lettuce and red onion with sticky rice and garnished with mint leaves. Sunday was roast chicken and then the first round of the new Formula 1 series. This is starting to sound like a cookery blog! On Monday, went to ACU as usual and having found an anomaly on my chemo chart that had been given to me by Prof Bowen at my last clinic appointment I queried it. Turns out that for the last 7 days I should have been taking an oral form of chemo everyday and somebody had failed to tell me! I suspect it might be the nurses in ACU or the pharmacy and whats more I suspect theyve kept it quiet. If I find out I shall let you know and as I have a clinic appointment on Friday, I shall spill the beans to the Prof and all will be revealed! Im sure your all wondering how the Hickman line went. Well Im afraid I cant tell you because it didnt happen - I got the mates dixed up. It is however happening tomorrow and I shall report. This week I have done one of the dumbest things I have ever done and Im almost too embarrassed to tell you. We bought a brand new lawnmower to mow our over sized lawn, mainly as I dont have the required energy at the moment and our other one is fourteen years old and has to be pushed. The new one however pushes itself! The dumb thing I did when prepping it for first use for the first time was to put 1/2 litre of oil in the petrol tank. How so you may ask? Because the petrol filler cap on the new mower is in exactly the same place as the oil filler on the old mower! I was so embarrassed I dare not take it back to the dealer so I had to strip the whole thing down and flush it out - started first pull though after I got it back together :-). That was on one of my better days in case you were wondering! Ill try and post a little more frequently in future. xxx
