Wednesday 22.10.14 ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES NEW GENERAL MANAGER FOR TEAM MILNE BAY With under 25 days to go, Team Milne Bay has seen a strategic change to its management backed by the Milne Bay Provincial Administration to attend the PNG Games next month. Provincial Administrator Michael Afaisa Kape in an urgent meeting yesterday announced the replacement of the Teams general manager Andrew Chauka with a more experienced sports administrator and community leader Ernest Imatana. Imatana incidentally had been very vocal about the lack of information on preparation and urgency into organizing a formidable Team Milne Bay to the games, and now finds himself in the hot seat. As of yesterdays announcement, he wasted no time in calling a meeting with all managers of the 12 codes that will represent Milne Bay. At this meeting he gauged where preparation was for each of them and today announced we are ready to go. He took the opportunity to call on local business houses and corporate bodies to get behind Team Milne Bay even if it means sponsoring one code. The province hopes to send a 248- member contingent to the games in Lae, Morobe Province in November. Codes they will participate in including the major task to defend the gold in soccer and include netball, volleyball, dart, cricket, basketball, rugby 9s, boxing, track & field events, a Lae-based hockey team and paralympics. Major supporter of the team at this time is the Milne Bay Provincial Government.
