Wednesday 8/20. Pictures taken today at the Iowa State Veterinary Clinic while Sam was at physical therapy. He continues to improve slowly. Hell be five weeks out from surgery tomorrow and we are increasing his exercise a bit daily. Now once a day using his harness we walk him down the hall and out the door onto ramps to get him outside and let him use the ramps to get back inside and back in his pen. He gets four outings a day, first thing in the morning, noon, 5 and just before bed at 10. On three of these we still carry him out to do his business. At least once a day we let him ramble around the yard with his harness for a while before going back in. His left leg is doing well and when/if his right leg recovers equally he will be able to walk unattended for short stretches. For now we are going to have physical therapy weekly. In two weeks his surgeons will want to see him to evaluate his progress. At that point we should know whether he will completely recover or whether he will require a cart.
