Wednesday, December 24 Mark 9:15-24 I BELIEVE; HELP MY UNBELIEF He answereth him, and saith, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you?” Mark 9:19, KJV The focus of today’s devotion is the outburst of the father of a boy under demonic oppression who was brought to the disciples for healing. He said “I believe but help my unbelief.” We can say of this man that he had faith but the faith had been polluted by unbelief. Thus, recognising his major problem, he cried to the Lord Jesus. A village experiencing famine invited a missionary to pray for them. He stirred up their faith, and called them for prayer. When they were coming, a boy came with an umbrella because he believed there would be rain after the prayer. Others believed the prayer would work but that it may take some time, so they brought no umbrella. The story shows a boy with a pure faith, and the crowd with a polluted faith. Beloved, how do you behave after you have prayed? We claim to have faith, yet it is a polluted one. If Jesus will walk with us and work in us, we must purge our faith of unbelief. It is high time we cried to Jesus to destroy the spirit of unbelief in us. • Birthday Blessing: “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus-” Philippians 4: 19 Read Bible Through Passage: Zephaniah 1-3; Revelation 16. Understanding God is necessary, but it is not enough. What is most important is for you to agree with Him. - Unknown
