Wednesday, December 31, 2014 TITLE : EBENEZER Hitherto hath the Lord helped us. (1 Samuel7:12) The word Ebenezer is an expression used by Prophet Samuel to show his gratitude to God for what He did in the past for the people of Israel. He exclaimed hitherto the Lord hath helped us! Through poverty, wealth, sickness, and health; at home and abroad, in the school, in the sanctuary, in joy, in trial, in victory, through it all, you also can echo hitherto hath the Lord helped us! Saints of old had a unique way of demonstrating their gratitude to God. When God provided Abraham a lamb instead of Isaac for a burnt offering, he built an altar and called it “Jehovah-jireh, which means: In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen. As you look forward to another year with bright expectation, there is still a future to walk through. He who has brought you thus far has promised never to leave you or forsake you. His presence will go with us. You can rely on His past faithfulness in the past and face the future with definite assurance. Let us approach the year with more prayers and faith in God.
