Wednesday, July 31, 2013 Let us pause with those for whom we are praying, and take time to ponder in our hearts the Lord, our shield, our glory, the one who lifts up our heads and the one who answers. (Psalm 3:3,4) Matthew 13: 44-46 Christ Jesus, help me recognize your treasure of great value. . . To the unpracticed and imperceptive eye, a field is a field and a pearl is simply a hard white sphere. Using these two metaphors, Jesus encourages us to dig into our lives, and to become schooled in what is of value, in order that we ‘buy’ with our time, energy and riches the treasures of his kingdom. What are those treasures? With eyes of faith, hope and love I can recognize the valuables of God’s kingdom. Then with great joy I, too, might give over all my resources to ‘purchase’ these treasures of great price. Christ Jesus, help me recognize your treasure of great value.
