Wednesday, June 19 Romans 3:9-20 NO ONE IS RIGHTEOUS “None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and conscientious, no, not one.” Romans 3:10, AMP Having declared the righteousness of God and exposed the unrighteousness of both Gentiles and Jews, Paul gives his verdict; no one is righteous! This implies that no one, regardless of age, gender, race, religious affiliation or status and so on, is righteous or worthy of God’s love. Referring to Old Testament passages like Psalms 5:9; 10:2-8; 36:1; 140:3 and Isaiah 59:7-8, Paul established that humanity in general, in its present sinful condition, is unacceptable before God. We must remember that we are alienated sinners in God’s sight; this realisation should point us toward Christ as only His righteousness can make us worthy of being qualified to belong to God. We must do away with all excuses, arguments and defenses that separate us from Jesus. We must also admit our sins and failures to God and embrace His love through Jesus Christ. Remember that we cannot earn salvation by keeping the Law but we do please God when we appropriate His love. When we do, our lives start to conform to His revealed will for us.
