Wednesday, Mar 12 - “10 main Grace-discoveries - pt 7.” Look again at what the Lord told Paul in 2Cor 12:9 - “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” We must grasp the reality that God’s indwelling Grace is absolutely all we need to remove every thorn of life - all of the obstacles that come against us! We are looking at “Grace-discoveries” - what Grace Reveals to us from the New Testament writings. Grace-discovery #7- The revelation of a new kind of faith. This new kind of faith is God’s faith on the inside of us. Look at how Jesus prophetically introduced this to us in Mark 11:22-23 - “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, Be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Do you see the phrase “have faith in God”? The last words “in God” is used in the genitive case; meaning that it should read “OF God” - Jesus is prophesying of the New Creation - you and I - who would have the faith of God on the inside of their recreated spirit - Paul labelled this as part of the Spirit-fruit in Gal 5 and as part of the Spirit-manifestation in 1Cor 12. Let me show you this in more detail and break it down for you. Look at what we read in Rom 1:17 - “For in it (the Gospel) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’” The Righteousness of God, as seen in the Gospel, is Revealed to us “from faith to faith”. We see here 2 kinds of faith - God’s faith and our faith. God’s faith operated to perfection in Jesus’ Life and in what He has done for us. Look at what we read in Rom 3:22 - “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith OF Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe”. This verse gives meaning to the phrase “from faith to faith” - The Righteousness of God is Revealed from Jesus’ faith to our faith. In other words, God’s Righteousness is Revealed from what Jesus has already done through His faith (In Gal 2:16 and 3:22 Paul tells us this same thing - I will not use the space here to cite them, but it is a great study). We have just seen what God’s faith in us is all about, but what about our faith. Our faith is wrapped up in our obedience. Our faith is better seen as our “faithfulness” - it is our faith in God and His Word, empowered and amplified by His dynamic faith in keeping us steady and focused. This is why we read in Heb 11:6 - “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” This does not refer to the faith of Jesus because it is perfect and never changes, but this verse refers to our faith which is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. Actually, the faith-theme of the letter of Hebrews is referring to our faith, as the faith-theme of the letter of Romans is referring to God’s faith. It is by understanding this new kind of faith that is on the inside of you, Revealed by the Gospel of Grace, that you will thrive in every situation!
