Wednesday, March 19 Matthew 20:17-28 “Whoever wants to be the first must be your slave and whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant.” So many times I have witnessed this in my own life. By this I mean people serving others in a quiet and unobtrusive way. An example of serving others which comes to my mind often is when my husband was terminally ill and a friend of ours came faithfully to our home to read to him and feed us all lunch. This was an amazing thing to watch and be a part of. Each week for months, this man would come, rain or shine and read the Bible to us. We all looked forward to this time more than I can tell you. It was a respite and a breath of fresh air each time he came. It humbles me every time I think of it. Another example of unselfishness and serving that makes me so thankful for God’s love all around us is the following: It was time to move to another house. Mine had sold and al- though I had hired professional movers to help move us, it was going to be very difficult. My husband was so ill and mother was blind. We had been packing for weeks. The day of the move arrived and you can’t imagine my amazement when a “flock” of people arrived from my Church and else where to help. They all pitched in and by the end of the day, the dishes were unpacked and put away, the refrigerator was stocked and working and all the beds were made, ready for a very tired family. My best friend came and helped me clean up the old house and she brought food for the whole bunch of people. She was a God send to me that day! I shall never forget that wonderful day!! Want to see God at work? Just look around you!
