In a press statement to newsmen in Onitsha, Anambra State, shortly after its one-day national convention, yesterday, the group said it was rejecting Nwachukwu’s nomination for failing Ndigbo in the past. In the statement jointly signed by Augustine Chukwudum, President and Chinedu Onyebuchi, Secretary-General, NUF said it is only worthy Igbo sons and daughters who had proven themselves through positive contributions to Ndigbo that should be saddled with the responsibility of representing Ndigbo. On the Second Niger Bridge project, the group said: “We have read and found out that the Second Niger Bridge is going to be constructed under Public Private Partnership, PPP arrangement that is going to place almost about 70 per cent of the construction of the bridge on its users. “We condemn that arrangement, and called on President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration to stop taking Ndigbo for granted.” On Boko Haram insurgency, NUF called on the Northern Elders Forum to sit up and stop playing blame game. “We also call on the youths of Northern region to begin to take responsibilities because it is a pity that a region that has produced great men like Aminu Kano, Ahmadu Bello, Tafa Balewa, Shehu Shagari and others, will allow visionless people to be in charge of their affairs,” it said. On the nomination of Abia State governor, Theodore Orji, as chairman of South East Governor’s Forum, the group urged Orji and other governors in the region to live up to their responsibility and ensure that the development of the region was not hampered by party affilia You might also like Tambuwal’s travels and tours Nationwide strike begins Monday, says Labour Army refutes Boko Haram attack on Nyako’s convoy, kills 13 terrorists How we spent Abacha’s loot — Okonjo-Iweala Facebook Share Twitter Share
