Wednesday Morning Prayer: Heavenly Father, during this time of year when we concentrate so much on things, I have reflected on my life over my years of ministry and Ive watched people work so hard to gain things only to be robbed of them by death. Lord, is seems that so much effort is put into acquisition of stuff that we can never keep. I pray that you would help us to always be diligent in life and do our best to be good stewards of the things for which we have been blessed, and yet, help us to learn how to let go because ultimately we will, whether we want to or not. I pray that you would help all of us to be able to leave this world without a struggle in regard to what we leave behind because we have made heavenly investments and have treasures awaiting us on the other side, and those treasures being those we love who are going to be awaiting us in Heaven or will join us soon after we get there. The words of the great missionary Jim Elliot, who gave his life trying to get people saved comes to my mind today when he said, a man is no fool to give what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. Help us, Lord, to gain the eternal treasures. In Jesus Name, AMEN.
