Wednesday, November 12, 2014: Update By Courtney Stewart — 8 minutes ago Sunni is transitioning well into her life at QLI in Omaha. Each day her coordination improves in all of her limbs. She is gaining control of her thumbs (can show a thumbs up gesture), and individual fingers (pointing to things she wants). She has not spoken yet, but can communicate with a letter chart by spelling out her feelings, wants, and needs. Sunni is standing for longer periods of time and is holding much of her own body weight unassisted. Her therapists are hopeful that this continued work will eventually lead to walking. Our family is touched by all of the continued love and support sent to us during this time. We recognize that this road to recovery is a marathon and not a sprint. To remind Sunni of her support system (especially during the upcoming holidays), I am compiling letters, fond memories, pictures and things of that nature. I am encouraging all friends and family of Sunni to send a letter, memory (written and/or pictures with captions), inspirational quotes, and anything along those lines.
