Wednesday, November 13, 2013 The scans were as bad as we feared. The current therapy has not slowed the progression of the cancer. We had a very lengthy discussion with Dr. Weiss and staff and our best options for William. We were presented with some last ditch potential options as well as having the “its okay to not do anything” talk. We respect the honesty but are not ready to give up at this time. Currently the plan is being devised but will be managed here in Cincinnati. As of now he will potentially be admitted in a couple of days for: *Surgery to replace his central line which has shifted and is not working. *Be admitted for high dose chemotherapy over 5 days. This is going to be rough but his cancer is moving very rapidly now and treatment has to get more aggressive than the cancer. *Potentially have his stem cells transfused into him to help his body recover from the high dose chemotherapy. *Set up targeted radiation therapy for a few specific areas. This will take place over 2 to 3 weeks. *Receive MIBG radiation therapy to knock back the disease as much as possible. This will be a very difficult period since it is so intense and there is limited contact with him due to the radiation. *Pray we have several months of quality time together before the cancer pushes back. There is no guarantee this plan will buy us more time but is the best we have since the cancer has remained resistant to all treatments. Thank you to all who have prayed for William and continue to pray. Also we are thankful for the fundraisers done for him to help since we are now moving more into the unknown and unsure of the cost associated with these treatments. For now we have the framework of a plan and we are hopeful more options will present themselves to us in the future. We are also very aware of the gravity of the situation and appreciate every day we have together.
