Wednesday November 5 2014 LOSS OF THE HOLY GHOST Mormon 1:14 And there were no gifts from the Lord, and the Holy Ghost did not come upon any, because of their wickedness and unbelief. Mormon 1:4 Wickedness invariably leads to a suppression of conscience, until a person could lose all influence of the Lords Spirit. (See 2 Nephi 26:11; Ether 2:15.) However, a full awareness of sin will smite a person when in the presence of the Lord or his power. (See Alma 12:1; 29:5; 42:18.) Ideally, sinful people will recognize their spiritual shortages and repent so they can regain the Spirit that they enjoyed in their innocence. (See D&C 1:32-34.) Thus, even though a person has been evil, a change of attitude and behavior accompanied by a remission of sins can lead to a restoration of peace and conscience.
