Wednesday, Octber 1, 2014 We had a great day! Richmond is doing really well! He was sitting up, talking, cracking jokes, and being Richmond. For instance, I was reminding him of something from an earlier conversation and he reminded_me_that I am the older one and forgetful. He remembers just enough to be dangerous! Richmond has quite a following. Yesterday two of the docs whod seen him very early in his stay at Cone came by for a social call and today three of his therapists from rehab stopped in. It was so good to see them! Richmond has no memory of rehab, but we certainly do. Jen, Karen and Melissa are professional therapists, but most important to me is that they really cared for my son. They told us that they have followed his progress through Facebook! The rehab department at Cone is tops. We love these people and are eternally grateful for their care and guidance. I was very apprehensive about Richmond being back in the neuro icu, but this time was very different than his last time there. We felt so comfortable with his nurses. They knew him and we knew them. They remarked many times on his progress and think that he is as amazing as we do. I will never take nurses, CNAs, nor therapists for granted. They work harder than anybody knows. Richmond has had great care from everyone of them. Joanna just called to tell us that Richmond is being moved to the Nuero science floor tonight. He will be monitored there until he is released. Joanna is going back to the hospital now to help with the transition. Please pray that this stay will be brief. I will not go to bed until I hear from her that the move was successful and that Richmond is comfortable and resting or sleeping. Please pray that Richmond will continue to improve and be back home soon. The light at the end of the tunnel is burning brighter! Thanks be to God! Peace Amen Hillstrong!
