Wednesday Update on Tree Cleanup Operation: New Grinder at Bryan Stock Drop Off Site Casper, Wyoming – Pickup trucks and trailers continue to flow through the city’s six branch drop off locations. The drop off site at the County Fairgrounds is the newest drop off location, but even in its first 24 hours of operation, the pile has already grown to titanic proportions. City crews are continuing to systematically clear branches from the roadways of the hardest hit neighborhoods. Workers moved to twelve hour shifts last Thursday night. The long hours have continued through the weekend and have continued into the work week. Additional equipment has now been brought to bear on the cleanup operation. A rented high capacity hydraulic shredder has been placed at the Bryan Stock Trail drop off location. The city’s high capacity grinder has been in place at the Mike Sedar site since yesterday, and four smaller grinders have been deployed with the neighborhood branch cleanup crews. Some of the wood chips created will be used in area parks and public areas. Most will be transported up to the city’s compost yard, where they will be composted or used as a natural cover material for closed portions of the landfill. Citizens are being asked to keep an eye out for neighbors who may need a helping hand. Many reports have come in of people who cleaned up their own yards, then reached out to their disabled or elderly neighbors. As a reminder, the six branch dropoff sites are: • Mike Sedar Park South (located south of College Drive and across the street from Fire Station #2) • County Fairgrounds • Corner of Iris and Valley Drive • Along Bryan Stock Trail, north of K Street • Corner of 21st and Wyoming Boulevard • Balefill Compost Yard at the City Landfill Citizens are encouraged to monitor the City’s website, casperwy.gov, for further updates.
