Wednesday evening marks the start of the New York run of the annual Architecture & Design Film Festival (it will take up residence in Los Angeles in March and Chicago in April). Until Sunday, October 19, the five-day event in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood will include 25 new works that showcase the rich diversity of stories in the worlds of design, fashion, architecture, and technology. Highlights include a feature about the trailblazing 20th-century Irish modernist architect and furniture designer Eileen Gray; a short about a day in the life of iconic American architect and industrial designer Michael Graves; and ambitious 3-D documentaries about the Berlin Philharmonic and the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California, directed by Wim Wenders (the auteur behind the acclaimed Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire films) and Robert Redford, respectively adfilmfest.
