Wednesday mornings Devotional... SOC You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall… Leviticus 26:1-13 (NIV) 1 Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the LORD your God. 2 Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the LORD. 3 If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, 4 I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees of the field their fruit. 5 Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land. 6 I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove savage beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country. 7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. 8 Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you. 9 I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you. 10 You will still be eating last years harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new. 11 I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you. 12 I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. 13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high. Thank You Lord for bringing Your power into the lives of those who walk in Your way and who identify themselves with You. This section of scripture is called “Reward for Obedience”, and as you can see in the aforementioned verses, the reward is real in our lives and visible to all around us as testimony of You in the midst of their lives. If we are to receive His rewards for obedience and see those who align themselves against us fall before God, we must put off the things that so easily ensnare others around us. Put them off, then you might put on… Laying down with no fear before you, in peace, wow, are you there yet? Blessings of food and plenty… But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you [food, shelter, clothing] (Matt 6:33) (Phil. 4:19). And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee (Ex 23:25). Blessings of peace and security… He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler (Psalm 91:4). Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day (Psalm 91:5). He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. (Psalm 112:7). (Psalm 121:4) When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet (Pro 3:24). Blessings of Victory… Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us (Romans 8:35, 37). There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it (1 Cor. 10:13). Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place (2 Cor. 2:14). Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage (Hebrews 2:14-15). And completed with blessings of family and meeting our needs. Are you receiving the blessings God desires for you in your walk with Him? Father thank You for desiring to bless those who walk in Your ways, preparing the needs before them as they seek to bring glory to You Oh LORD. I pray you see God’s provisioning in your life, known to those around us as blessings for obedience.
