Wednesday we had yet another trip to the ER at the VA. This trip - TopicsExpress

Wednesday we had yet another trip to the ER at the VA. This trip was both helpful and insulting at the same time. When we arrived my pain level was bordering on migraine level along with a regular headache pain level at around 6 (on a scale to 10). The helpful part of the trip came when we asked the ER doc to do a Neurology consult which he did. Dr. Morganstern is an awesome lady, she listened to what we had to say about my meds and condition and made immediate changes to them while we were there. The ER doc on the other hand was the complete opposite. At the end of the visit just prior to my being discharged this guy went into talking about bio feedback and other alternative treatment options. I dont have a problem with the bio feedback part however when you begin to tell me to tell myself the pain isnt there and to use zen budhist type stuff which in turn I re positioned myself on the bed. He then stated, well I will stop talking now as I can see you have stopped listening. When you begin to tell me that you dont believe my pain is real and that I can just think it away, lets trade bodies and see how you like what I go through on a daily basis. BTW if you are a veteran and are treated at the VA, employees of any kind have a badge that identifies themselves as Im a veteran too. This guy didnt have one. Rant over, thought I would share this was quite possibly the worst experience in any hospital ever, and the care I have recieved at the VA thus far has been spectacular.
