Week 3/ Day 21: After much debate over what exactly to do to fix the drain by his pancreas, they were able to accomplish it late yesterday afternoon. Im guessing this is part of the michigan difference. One doctor just doesnt say this is what we are going to do and then they follow her/his orders. They have to have several different doctors discuss/debate the best option for the patient and all agree before proceeding. (At least thats what im telling myself as to why it took all weekend to fix the problem ;) ….) We had an infectious disease specialist come by today to review his cultures and bloodwork and are awaiting their recommendations as to what IV antibiotics he will be going home on. Chest tube continues to drain the fluid from his lung and are looking to possibly take it out late tomorrow or early Thursday depending on how much it continues to drain. The only real discomfort he is having is from that chest tube so we will be anxiously awaiting its removal. We can see the light at the end of this tunnel and more importantly my champagne is waiting patiently on ice to celebrate our homecoming soon.
