Week 35 – Carmine By Virginia Miranda Words - 494 His text read, ‘Carmines 7.30pm. Come prepared.’ She reread the message hoping somehow, his intention would become evident; come prepared for a night with me, come with guns blazing, she didn’t know. It was 10.30am. She stood, picked up her bag and said to Carrie, ‘I’m flexing off for the day, I’ll see you tomorrow.’ She didn’t wait for a reply. After a two minute consideration, she left the building and took a cab to Oasis Day Spa. He often planned a day for her at the spa. If she had a booking then she knew what to expect. ‘Good morning Miss Catalano. I’m sorry do you have a booking.’ The receptionist scrambled from behind the counter. ‘Check please, I’m sure I do; manicure, pedicure, full body massage, hair appointment with Maximus after.’ She loved this part; acting like a gangster’s girl. All her life she had been a good girl, let them think what they wanted. ‘There is nothing booked, but we can accommodate you. Before she left home she called the office, advising them of her whereabouts for the evening. Around her neck she wore the gold bar he had given her. She touched it for luck. She stepped from the cab through the revolving door. He was waiting at the bar, tall, dark hair, broad shouldered, her body tingled with anticipation. ‘You look beautiful tonight,’ he whispered in her ear. ‘Did you bring back up?’ She touched her necklace. ‘Good girl.’ he said. As he hugged her towards him she saw the reason for his message. She put her hand inside her bag. Her compact semi automatic 9mm was there. She dropped her hand to her left leg and felt for the .40 Smith and Wesson strapped to her thigh. ‘Are you ready?’ he asked. She pushed the button on her necklace. ‘Give them a few minutes.’ He stepped away,’ Shame to waste your obvious effort. When this is over I’ll see you at my place.’ As the door to Carmine’s swung open and twenty FBI officers charged in, Zina removed her badge and gun and stepped up to the table. ‘Gentlemen you are under arrest ........................
