Week 4, Day 3 Okay! Work was good today; busy, full, but I had a few of the most enjoyable people in my circle of folks each brighten the past few days in a different way. Be it starting a conversation, answering a question with a happy tone, giving a hug, giving a good handshake, or an unexpected cup of very good coffee, all brightened things to an unexpected yet very welcome degree. Thank you, folks. God bless you. You personally, really. :) Jeannas doing well. Really happy that shes coming back a little bit more each day. Unfortunately, I may have accidentally switched the dates of a childs dentist visit and something else. Oops! Jeanna was on this; I was told to expect it, too. But though she still does miss some things, like the kids names or the story of her falling ill, some things shell jump on and wont let go. Unfortunately, one of them is anything to do with the kids teeth. Don laugh, bro! When she was little, her mom told me she was always checking peoples teeth. Everyone thought she was going to be a dentist.Right after the rosary, the thing she valued most about the kids nighttime routine was: Did you brush your teeth? So, she asked several times a day in different ways if I had one of our sons dental appointment in place. Yep, honey, no worries! Unfortunately, the dentist appointment I kept reassuring her was go...wasnt. Erp. Well, you cant win em all. Today, though, I... -Found out the ambulance bill went from $1000 to $75 to...nothing. Nada! Who hoo! Thank you, Kaiser! -Got in the mail the (HOPEFULLY!) last needed document from the good folks at PSAS. Checked it, highlit the needed parts, added up the numbers, re-checked it, Scanned it, emailed it...heres hoping! Is there a patron Saint of paperwork? No, really...Im not kidding. If you find out, drop a novena to them, would you please? -Paid the utility bill for the 2nd time...yay! Gettin the hang of this! -opened & read a Lovely get well card from the mother of a dear family friend. Thank you! -got home, Dad? Weve been eating leftovers every 2nd day. Could we go to Burger King tonight? We havent eaten out in like, forever. ...hmmmm.... Kay, kids? Im tired. REAL tired. K-Kat, you take the orders. Dano, you help me unload when I get back. Susie, you distribute this when I get back...Ill see where your little brother is hiding in the nighborhood- on three, BREAK! ...okay, maybe not JUST like that, but it seemed that way. I went, got dinner, ate with the kids in a really enjoyable, relazxed meal where no one jabbered, but all were good and relaxed. I just laid down on the couch when...youngest son hands me MORE paperwork to fill out. Its needed, Its necessary, and I know this, so I do as much as I can, and then... One of my daughters is complaining about school. Here, I say, Heres what to do... Erm- I keep forgetting. Guys want to fix things, when thats not whats needed always in a situation... Jeanna listens. After a while, I get it. Really, it isnt about school, for my daughter. Its about classmate X, whos a bit of a challenge. Its about teacher X, whose style doesnt quite mesh with my daughters. Nothing I havent seen before. Except... Except JEanna, with all her challenges, is still better than me at it. :) [Why did this happen? Jeanna asked tonight. Did I do something bad? Did we need this? I dont know, hon, I said, my degrees and scribblings feeling ten kinds of useless. But I do know, the kids dont complain about stuff like they used to. They seem even more bonded to you than they were before, and in some ways, to me, too. Maybe it wasnt something bad. Maybe God just let this happen, like Deacon Scott said, to bring some thing good, like that, out of this.] By the end of the evening, all was better. Daughter was accepting help with the dishes, and praying for both the classmate and teacher at the rosary that night. Yes, true, ladies, sometimes, it drives us guys crazy when we want to fix things when youre upset. But sometimes, Jeanna taught me yet again, just listening is better. Course, I am oing to have to fix this dentist thing. No getting around that!
