Week 4 brought Royal Shock face to face with one of the usual suspects for the crown... would they be up to the task? After last week’s disappointing outing, Royal Shock fans were in anticipation hoping that their favourite team will quickly find their form and rise up to the challenge ahead. It was a week were team discussion and internal blogs analysed the why and how of last week’s strange performance. The goal – to identify, correct and eliminate these shortfalls!! At the end, this week’s outing gave positive signals but simultaneously confirmed some recurring weaknesses for Royal Shock. Their Achilles heel is now confirmed – too many easy spare misses are compromising their overall game scores and losing them points on too many occasions. To challenge, we feel that eliminating this part of their game should be a top priority for all Royal Shock players. Turning our attention to this week’s clash, Royal Shock did not disappoint. They played within the general average for all teams on the night but this is clearly not enough to win 8 points against one of the top teams in Malta. Royal Shock still managed to secure a respectable 6-2 defeat. In the first game Royal Shock took full advantage of Ramis slow and erratic start. They quickly took a healthy 100+ pin advantage until all players had a white frame in throw 7 to open the game and Ramis chances of closing on lost ground. Royal Shock however kept steadfast clutching to their now smaller margin to take the first two points of the clash. 737-703 the final score. Ramis opened the second game with some fine bowling – seemingly finding confidence and form from their loss of the first two points! Unfortunately, Royal Shock started negatively missing some easy spares. With luck not smiling and several good pocket throws not yielding expected results, the game score line was never in doubt. Ramis won handsomely to recover the initial pin fall deficit and practically put their hands on the game total pin fall points. Score was 790 – 674 in favour of Ramis. The third game was a much closer affair with Ramis leading but always having Royal Shock yapping closely at their feet. The spare-ball miss plague continued to hit hard on Royal Shock and at the end of it Ramis won confidently 773-748 and a total pin fall of 2266 – 2159 in favour of Ramis giving them a 6-2 victory. Thanks to this result, Ramis are now sole leaders with Royal Shock falling to 5th place and an 8 point gap from 4th place. Next week sees another crunch game for Royal Shock against FIna... with history showing that Royal Shock regularly manage to gain important points and even a win in this clash. Good luck Royal Shock!!
