Week FOUR Ok, so back to a semi normal but completely distracted college football TV Preview!! Thursday’s game September 18, 2014 7:30PM on ESPN (-9) Auburn at Kansas State The defending SEC Champ Auburn and their high-powered offense will matchup with a disciplined defense that consistently faces up-tempo attacks in the Big 12! I also really like/respect both coaching staffs in this game, it should be a good one. Auburn is a really good team, unless the spread goes over 10 points, be wise to stay with them, but make no mistake, Kansas State can pull the upset here too if they continue to hold off giving up big plays for four quarters! Friday’s game September 19, 2014 8:00 PM ESPN/ESPN2 Connecticut at South Florida (-2) Have to admit, not really as excited about this game, but hea, if you happen to be home Friday night, only 2 points being given on the point spread means it may be an entertaining game. I think I would go with the Bulls. Finally, Saturday September 20, 2014! 12:00PM NOON! ESPN2 Bowling Green at Wisconsin (-25) I can not help but wonder if the 25 points is for love for the Badgers, or small fan base/love for the Falcons? Bowling Green has an offense set to put up some points, but lost their starting QB for the season after the first game. They also won’t have the defense needed to slow Wisconsin’s running game. Double digit win, but 25 may be a bit much, turnovers will most likely determine if that is too high a number or not. ESPN Georgia Tech at Virginia Tech (-7.5) The Hokies will actually have a defense this game that somehow failed to show up last Saturday. Georgia Tech will also rebound for a win, that was less than satisfying as well. Playing in Blacksburg is what is driving he favorites here, that and the uncertainty of who Virginia Tech really is? I would rather pick the Yellow Jackets here, and will be rooting for them since they are my “local” team, but have a feeling it will unfortunately go the other way. FSN Old Dominion a Rice (-8) Hea, check out a game where the Owls are a favorite!!! ? SEC Network Troy at Georgia (-40) If you missed the Gamecocks/Bulldog game last weekend you really missed a great game, this one, not so much, but again, if you have not seen him, check out Todd Gurley, running back for Georgia, he is a BEAST, really great running back! 3:30 PM CBS Florida at Alabama (-14.5) I do not believe the Crimson Tide to truly be “all back” yet this season, but the Gators have not really improved in quite a while themselves. That being said, this should be an entertaining game to watch (not big offense though) and I think closer than a couple touchdowns. FSN Central Michigan at Kansas (-4.5) The Chippewas take on the Jayhawks in what may be the most interesting battle of mascot names this entire Saturday! At only four and half point favorites by the book makers, you would hate to see the Big 12 drop this one, but it was injuries last season that took away a promising season for Central Michigan (at least that is what I read). Might be a good idea to keep this game in mind to switch to if the others seem to burn out on entertainment value. Fox Sports 1 Louisville(-26.5) at Florida International I think a refocused Cardinal team will hand the Golden Panthers a whipping, I hope I am wrong though, not really a fan of their coach. CBS Sports Network Rutgers at Navy I don’t usually list the CBS Sports Network and didn’t look up the spread because I don’t currently get this channel, but this matchup looks interesting to me. Rutgers appears to be having a pretty good season in the making, and this is one of the better Navy teams we have seen in a while. ABC/ESPN2 Texas A&M (-32) at SMU A Texas size beat down, not as bad as Baylor gives these days, but a beat down none the less. ABC/ESPN2 Utah at Michigan (-6) Michigan, or rather the Big 10, really need this game against a talented QB and Utah team. This too should be an entertaining game and I would be tempted to take the visiting Utes if you are giving me points. ESPN Virginia at BYU I was not able to find the point spread on this game when I was looking these up, I am sure the home team Cougars are a double digit favorite over the visiting Cavaliers. Virginia beat BYU last season, one of only a couple wins, and are playing real well right now taking care of Louisville last Saturday and already have as many wins as last season. A lot of intrigue as BYU sets out to prove/earn a spot in the post BCS era. 4:00 PM SEC Network Indiana at Missouri (-13) I actually don’t know how the Tigers are doing against the spread, but they are winning and every game is giving their very good QB more experience in becoming quite exceptional by the time the conference schedule rolls around. With the Gamecocks beating the Bulldogs last weekend, the Mizzou Tigers will have a very realistic chance to repeat as SEC Eastern conference champions and completely have a shot at beating whoever survives the West! ESPNews Texas State at Illinois (-14) Go Bobcats!! 7:00 PM ESPN Mississippi State at LSU (-10) A really good match-up if you love defensive games! Ok now, what must the Bulldogs do? Well, follow exactly what Wisconsin did for the first half, and do not inexplicably change to a completely different game plan in the second half and they may win outright! I usually lean towards the Tigers, but Mississippi State has the size, talent and experience to take this one and as long as there are no injuries to key positions I think they do just that! 7:30 PM FOX Oklahoma (-7.5) at West Virginia SEC Network South Carolina (-21.5) at Vanderbilt 8:00 PM ESPN3 Our UNLV Rebels at Houston (-21) Go Rebels!!! ABC Clemson at Florida State (-20) ESPN2 Miami (Fla.) at Nebraska (-7) 10:30 Pm ESPN Oregon (-24) at Washington State Fox Sports 1 San Diego State at Oregon State (-4.5)
