Week Two at the old Broadford Mill we began mocking up our animal - TopicsExpress

Week Two at the old Broadford Mill we began mocking up our animal on the endangered species list, the Orangutan. We had a couple of challenges: one is glue and the other is paper. I started using Visy Recycled waterproof paper to make my animals. I absolutely love this paper... it has a great feel, it folds easily, and the final look is outstanding! The only thing is... it is not working. The weight/gsm of the paper is not strong enough to support the head. I knew from the start we were going to have to fiddle and find the right paper weight for the job... so this is just a part of the process. John, NPIs Managing Director, said he can put two sheets of the Visy paper I love together and glue it to make it stronger. Ive attached some pic of the machine theyll be using to bond the two rolls of paper together. Im really interested to see how this goes down, as it was not a good story when I try gluing it myself. I found the glue soaked into the underside of the paper which is not coated, and this caused dimpling where ever I put the glue - imagine an orange peel. Not a good look. John, let me know I was applying too much glue. Luckily, I had purchased some permanent two sided tape, and it works an absolute treat. Now all I need to do is find who distributes this tape in Australia, and see if I can buy it by the pallet load - haHA!. Now hears the thing to remember when youre looking at the photos... these animals will have live action footage and 3d mapping technology projected onto them showing their habitat and what is happening to where they live.
