Week after week CCARS Volunteers haul CCARloads of animals to be spayed/neutered. Most weeks, we make two spay/neuter runs to Deuel Vet Clinic. We spayed/neutered over 400 animals in our first year of operations, but that only spurred us on to do more. February was spay/neuter awareness month, in honor of which we took a CCARload of community spays/neuters in addition to our regular shelter spay/neuter runs. We felt this special community spay/neuter run was so important we plan to continue it on a once per month basis. Once per month, we are hauling a load to Altamont Vet Clinic and we are focusing on mostly cats on those spay/neuter runs. Our total spays/neuters in February , during spay/neuter awareness month was 62 animals: 31 cats and 31 dogs. This is almost twice our old record and now established pace of one spay/neuter per day! This week we hauled 18 animals to be spayed/neutered, with one CCARload to Altamont Vet Clinic and one CCARload to Deuel Vet Clinic, bringing our total for the year to a whopping 137 animals! Thank you to our steadfast CCARS volunteers who make the spay/neuter runs, to our beloved vets who take care of so many of our animals, and to our community that helps us make a difference!
