Week beginning 16th November 2014 TODAY’S NOTICES 1. 3rd LARBERT BOYS’ BRIGADE would like to thank everyone who came along to their Beetle Drive, also to all who donated baking. Total raised was £290. 2. THANK YOU as well to all those who supported last night’s Phoenix Choir Concert. The amount raised for Church Funds will be given in due course. 3. ELDERS: please collect District Lists and Eastwords from the back of the church at the close of the service. Thank you. 4. THE TRAINING SESSION for all those who read the Scriptures on Sunday mornings will be this afternoon at 2.30pm in the Church. 5. FLOWER DELIVERY/ARRANGEMENT: We will shortly be drawing up a new rota for Flower Delivery after Church on Sundays. As ever we are looking for new people to boost our numbers as some volunteers are no longer able to help. If you think you could help, even for one Sunday a year, please see Duncan Walker after Church. Similarly, we are looking for new people to help with arranging flowers in Church for Sunday services. If you can help, please see Margaret Walker after Church 6. ARE YOU A DRAMA KING/QUEEN? Then you might like to help Tryst Community Church in their Christmas Explored Nativity in Stenhousemuir Town Centre on Saturday 29th November, when the Christmas lights will be switched on. There is a meeting for anyone interested in Tryst Community Centre this afternoon at 3pm. 7. FALKIRK FOODBANK: Most needed items are: UHT and dried milk; cartons of juice (not needing kept cool); tinned vegetables, meat, fish and fruit; biscuits and snacks. The boxes are in the vestibule and at the door to the Hall. 8. GIFT AID ENVELOPES are in the Vestibule or on the pews. Visitors wishing us to reclaim tax on donations made, please fill in your details on the envelope. NOTICES FOR THIS WEEK 9. WOMEN’S GROUP meets on Tuesday 18th November when our theme will be Jewellery. All ladies welcome. 10. DISCUSSION GROUPS: The Discussion Groups next meet on Wednesday 19th November in the Small Hall: the Afternoon Group at 2pm; the Evening Group at 7.30pm. They are discussing ‘The God Question’ material. All welcome. 11. WEEKDAY WORSHIP this Thursday 20th November at 11.15am will be led by Father John McInnes from St. Bernadette’s. This short 25 minute service is for those struggling to get to Church on Sunday mornings. All welcome. 12. CHRISTMAS FAYRE: Saturday 22nd November: see insert for further details. In addition, donations of shortbread, mince pies and mini chocolate rolls for the café would be much appreciated. Please see Roberta Caldwell or Irene Laurie. ADVANCE NOTICES: 13. SHOEBOX APPEAL: This year we are supporting the Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Appeal in our Gift Service on Sunday 23rd November. If you didn’t get a leaflet with details last week, there are copies available at the entrance to the church. You can join with another member of the congregation if you wish to donate a shoebox. Please support this worthy cause. 15. FALKIRK CHRISTIAN BOOKSHOP CHRISTMAS BOOKSTALL: Arlene Wright will be in the Hall, after next Sunday’s service, with a bookstall from the Book Shop, with Christmas cards, gifts, children’s book etc. This is for one week only. 16. BRING A FRIEND SUNDAY is making a reappearance on Advent Sunday, 30th November. Invitations are also included with your Order of Service. Please prayerfully consider who you could invite to come with you to Church. NEXT SUNDAY’S SERVICE – CONFIRMATION OF NEW MEMBERS: Next Sunday the Morning Service at 10.30am will be led by Melville and Anne, when we continue the theme, ‘The God Question’. We will also confirm 7 people into full membership of the Church. The Young Church meets as usual (see Regular Notices on our webpage larberteastchurch/www/index.php/parish-news). There will be tea/coffee after the service when the Traidcraft Stall will also be available. Please join us in worship next Sunday.
