Week beginning 5th October 2014 TODAY’S NOTICES 1. LARBERT CHURCHES YOUTH TRUST is pleased to announce that Jack Thomson will become our part-time Schools Worker alongside our excellent full-time Schools Worker Mike Glass. Jack, a former pupil of Larbert Village and Larbert High Schools studied at Aberdeen University. He has been working for 2 years in the USA as a volunteer for Ambassadors football ministry. He will start on 20th October. 2. TANZANIA 2015: The 5 people from Larbert East who are joining a Vine Trust Work Party to Tanzania next September will meet after Church today in the Upper Room. Even if you have only fleetingly thought about going, please join them. 3. THE ENQUIRERS’ GROUP has its 2nd meeting this afternoon in the Small Hall at 2.30pm. There is still time for anyone who missed the 1st meeting to catch up. For further information, speak to Melville. 4. FALKIRK FOODBANK: Most needed items are: UHT and dried milk; cartons of juice (not needing kept cool); tinned vegetables, meat, fish and fruit; biscuits and snacks. The boxes are in the vestibule and at the door to the hall. 5. GIFT AID ENVELOPES are in the Vestibule or on the pews. Visitors wishing us to reclaim tax on donations made, please fill in your details on the envelope. NOTICES FOR THIS WEEK 6. WOMEN’S GROUP meets on Tuesday 7th October at 7.30pm. Our theme is the ‘Helix Project’. All ladies welcome. 7. THE GOD QUESTION DISCUSSION GROUPS meet this Wednesday 8th October in the Small Hall. The afternoon group meets at 2pm; the evening group at 7.30pm, when we will look at the 2nd part of the DVD on the Cosmos. All welcome. 8. WEEKDAY WORSHIP this Thursday 9th October at 11.15am will be led by Melville, but our guest speaker will be Mr John Wilson from the Olivet Hall. This short 25 minute service is especially for those who struggle to get to Church on Sunday morning, for various reasons. Why not bring along a friend? 9. KINNAIRD PRIMARY END OF TERM SERVICE: Due to increased pupil numbers, sadly there is no room for parents/visitors for Kinnaird’s Harvest Service in the school on Thursday. 10. STENHOUSEMUIR PRIMARY END OF TERM SERVICE: Stenhousemuir Primary Harvest Service is this Friday 10th October in the Church at 9.45am. Parents and friends are welcome to come along. 11. LMCA hold their first meeting of this session with a Communion Service in Stenhouse and Carron Church this Friday 10th October at 7.30pm. All welcome. ADVANCE NOTICES: 12. FLOWER NOTICE FOR 12th OCTOBER: Jessie Munro and Edith Newton NEXT SUNDAY’S SERVICE: Next Sunday the Service at 10.30am will be led by Melville when we continue the autumn theme: ‘The God Question’. Although it is a school holiday, the Young Church meets as usual (see regular notices on our webpage larberteastchurch/www/index.php/parish-news). There will be tea/coffee after the service when the Traidcraft Stall will also be available. Please join us in worship next Sunday.
