In total, we had 50 bids for the three vehicles: Results were as follows: • GMC Cargo Van $4,200 • Ford Pickup $3,500 • Dodge Pickup $2,700 Assessing Department - • Brian will be attending the Grand Ledge City Council meeting on Monday night to give a quarterly assessing report to the Mayor and Board members. • Staff is performing data verification in the Colt Meadows Subdivision. • Preparation has begun on the Winter Tax Rolls. The millage rates are consistent with 2012 except for the Waverly School Debt Millage. 2012 winter debt millage for Waverly Schools District was 2.89000, for 2013 it is 4.63000 that is a difference of 1.7400 mills. On a $150,000 house that equals about $130 more per year in property taxes. We are anticipating numerous phone calls and office visits from the Waverly School District taxpayers on the increase in their winter tax bill. Community Development Department - • Tentative Preliminary Plat applications have been received for the final phases of the Pointe West (34 more lots) and Ashford Manor (36 more lots) subdivisions off of St. Joe Highway. The subdivisions are being developed by Eastbrook Homes and will be reviewed by the Planning Commission on November 25th with final review by the Township Board to follow. • The streets in the Huntington Acres Subdivision were paved this week in conjunction with the water main replacement program. • Christie’s Bistro in the Crowne Plaza Hotel has been renamed Bordeaux Wine-Food- Spirits. • Plans have been submitted for a Torrid women’s clothing store in the Lansing Mall. • The new name for Benson’s Vinaigrette’s at 940 Elmwood is Zaytoon’s Restaurant which hopes to open in November. • The grand opening for the Maurice’s women’s clothing store on Marketplace Boulevard was held on Thursday, October 24th. • An inflatables fun center has opened in the Lansing Mall near the food court. Delta Patrol - • Saturday morning around 4am, Deputy Hilliker located and arrested two suspects that had been involved in numerous vehicle break-ins and a couple of auto thefts. He recovered property stolen from most of these victims and we are still in the process of trying to return the property to the rightful owners. Excellent work by Deputy Hilliker in locating these suspects. Library - • The library and the Delta Historical Society hosted a program on the Italian immigration experience and 48 people attended. • Library staff have been participating in meetings to discuss what the library does well, what we should be doing, and what we can do better. Parks Department - • The 4th annual Monster Mash Family Halloween Dance was held on October 23 with over 220 participants which is up from last year. Participants danced, played games such as skull toss and witches hat toss, entered Halloween raffles and guessing games as well as enjoyed treats. Each child left with a Halloween goodie bag. • The 39ers had Lunch Bunch this month at FlapJack restaurant with 19 people. • The 39ers had the Mackinac Island/Grand Hotel trip from the 21st to the 24th . People enjoyed the beautiful accommodations at the Grand Hotel, the exceptional food, and the wonderful northern Michigan fall scenery. 51 people attended. People came from as far away as St Johns, Delton, Northville, Indiana, North Carolina, and Oklahoma. November 4, 2013 AGENDA ITEMS – All of these items are tentatively scheduled: 1. FY2014 Budget Hearing 2. Recommendation to adopt 2012 Fire Code 3. Recommendation to adopt 2014 Holiday Schedule.
