Weekend Forecast – Unsettled / No Extremes Co, Wexford Friday Night sees the threat of any showers dying out. It’s cool with temps around 3 to 4 degrees. Winds, light to moderate SW overland but fresher near the coast. Saturday sees dry cool start with some good bright and sunny spells. Rain will push in during the afternoon and evening. While there is a slight chance of some heavier pockets, general amounts are not expected to be large and Wexford may escape with very little. Winds are mainly light to moderate westerly and probably a little fresher in northwestern coastal areas. Temp’s, around 7 to 9 degrees. Saturday Night sees it becoming dry with skies clearing to allow temps to drop down to between minus 0 and 4 degrees. Coolest inland where there will be frost. Coastal areas will see the temps staying a couple of degrees higher. Wind’s light to moderate NW, swinging westerly later and finally to the south towards morning. Sunday starts mainly dry with sunny spells and any frost will quickly melt. Rain will be getting into the west by midday and will slowly spread across the country during the afternoon and evening, it may be after dark by the time it reaches Wexford but this is uncertain. The rain will be quite heavy at times and continues in many areas for a time Sunday Night , gradually clearing the east coast early Monday morning. Cool for much of the day with temps no better than 8 or 9 degrees but a significant rise in temps will follow the rain so that later in the evening, western areas will be looking at 12 or 13 degrees and Wexford seeing this later on. Next week is unsettled at first with rain or showers at times but some brighter spells to. Around Wednesday, a storm depression will track close enough to the north to being strong winds and rain there but southern areas may escape quiet well. After the storm depression clears into the Baltic Sea, things become much quieter and current indications are that b Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be much drier and quieter as pressure build from the south. After this the fun starts, will the high pressure settle to the north or east to allow winter temps to set in so we can start looking at the risk of snow and very cold conditions, will the high stay to the south, keeping things dry and mild, will it settle in the Atlantic to the west of Ireland, opening the floodgates for dry but bitter arctic air to flood south or will it pull back to the SW, allowing the cold northwesterly regime to return with very unsettled conditions ? An update to the November forecast will be issued in the monthly section of Reality Weather on Sunday and will take a closer look at the distant possibilities. Don’t miss it, —Ray
