Weekend Preview - Gameweek 22 The transfer window has been - TopicsExpress

Weekend Preview - Gameweek 22 The transfer window has been uncharacteristically and unexpectedly shadowed by silence in the Barclays Premier League. Gameweek 21 and the coming Gameweek, yet haven’t been dulled by the absence of prospective new recruits. The veterans and semi-polished youngsters fare tremendously on both the real and virtual pitches, the latter being the Fantasy Premier League arena. What remains to be seen is how the 22nd match transpires for players and managers alike. The West Midlands witnesses Aston Villa take on visitors Liverpool this week. The Reds have exhibited fair promise yet realization of the same is still in the works. The chief element of promise, for some time now, has been Raheem Sterling, our Premium pick. Rested sufficiently against Sunderland, his rejuvenated pace could be quite the menace for Villa, especially as Vlaar cools his heels. Our Un-Con choice is Alberto Moreno, who seems to thrive in Rodgers’ leftwing deployment albeit out-of-position, an asking price of £5m proves an affordable clean sheet and assist prospect. Villa have scrounged out only 11 goals in the 21 league games so far so it would be unwise to recruit any of their attacking assets right now. Burnley face up to Crystal Palace next. To torment the Eagles’ hopes of 3 assuring points, the Clarets would pin their hopes on one of this seasons sensations, Danny Ings. Twenty one incredible matches embroidered by atleast a goal or an assist in seven of his last ten league matches, and a not-so-tormenting schedule to follow, should be caution enough for you to even consider replacing him. Our Un-Con pick is Jason Puncheon, mostly because of Pardew’s abolition of the 4-4-1-1 formation that seems to reap immediate returns as the Eagles frequented the opposition’s goalpost a welcome many times. Pardew wants goals, his 4-3-3 makes it clear. Puncheon will surely be rewarded should Burnley’s defence maintain their defensive frailty. A surprise inclusion makes it to the Foxes’ and our dream team lineups as Leicester City receive Stoke City in an exciting match. Freshly granted a work permit and hence a roaring opportunity in the league, our Premium Pick Andrej Kramaric left no doubts in our minds. A goal mongerer at his home club HNK Rijeka, the Croatian boasts of several skills tailor-made for the Premiership. Fast, great ball control, excellent finishing, willingness to parade the field for the ball and a penchant for shooting should deem him prodigious as well as industrious. Yet to be added to the Fantasy Premier League market, it is unclear what value the official game will place on the winger although it is almost a certainty that hell be classed in the midfield category. Manchester United’s Falcao hasn’t exactly made the league his as was initially expected, yet away at Queens Park rangers, he might commence his mission conquest of the Premiership. Our Premium Pick should be fed well by the Red Devils’ composite midfield and against a defence that seems too naïve, as 16.24 goal attempts per game attest, the Colombian’s Fantasy Premier League prospects are high. Also, Robin van Persie would be missing in action. Not to forget the Rangers’ talismanic Charlie Austin, United’s defence isn’t too uptight either. Un-Con pick Luke Shaw looks set to score a clean sheet and feed the attack productively, infact the easy upcoming fixtures would be the most likely source of the same. Tottenham Hotspur have indeed started clicking well together and their position and results affirm of the same. Against Sunderland, history has all the reason to be on their side as Spurs won their last corresponding fixture 5-1. Both history and the future converge in deciding for us our Premium Pick, Harry Kane. Kane has ravaged the opposite numbers with six goals and three assists in his last six and has quickly become the centre of attraction at White Hart Lane. Still priced under £6m, all employers better persist and all seekers better not resist. Adam Johnson, our Un-Con pick, is still one of the few creative minds, and if 3.3% of you invest responsibilities in him, you sure know that he can score and assist justifiably. At the Liberty Stadium, Swansea would be thirsting for the scent of revenge, but against Chelsea, even the scent might be feebly olfactory. Diego Costa, our Premium man and the Swans’ prime target, carved a hattrick in the reverse fixture, and his recent patch-up with form makes the chances of an encore even more likely. The hosts have conceded big chances unexpectedly easily; the Spaniard has latched on to the same expectedly easily. The latter has procured four goals in his last six league games and the former have conceded one hundred and seventy shots inside the box till now, clearly meriting fewer accolades amongst the league’s defences. We all know for Costa, such a method of welcome might prove too dear for the hosts. Southampton have fared tremendously this season, and almost all of their players have toiled hard to notch favorable results. Away at Newcastle United, we expect their defence to be more proactive for 3 more points. Ryan Bertrand, Premium Pick, started the season with a flourish and for a team which has managed 10 clean sheets and thus be the best rearguard so far. Bertrand and his compatriot, Clyne have successfully converted the chances that have come and can be banked upon to extend further. Another likely source of points for the Saints is Eljero G.Elia, our Un-Con pick. The Dutch Winger matches Tadic, even outwits him for pace and gets in good positions to supply Pelle; the Magpies’ defence will find it hard to throttle him. London gears up for its share of the action as West Ham United take on Hull City in what could be a result of not one, but several dimensions. Three points for the hosts and they close in on Arsenal and the Spurs, three points for the Tigers and they temporarily dodge relegation, provided other results go their way. The fortunes tilt more towards the Hammers in this one as our Premium Pick, Aaron Cresswell as well as our Un-Con pick, Andy Carroll, promise to do well for the hosts. Cresswell makes several successful key passes, twenty two of them, and 58% of his passes in the final third have met with success. His clean sheet chances are augmented as both Jelavic and Hernandez are injured. Carroll is often on the receiving end of them, and has returned dividends in five of his last eight encounters. Marquee may be inadequate a word for the Manchester City - Arsenal clash, as the fumes of expectations and revenge propel both outfits for want of a winning statement. And probably this fixture brings forth the most compelling one-on-one duel this season. It’s the stuff of fantasies, of folklore, Sergio Aguero meets Alexis Sanchez. Arguably the two best players in the league, both the South Americans scored in the reverse fixture and both can do so again. Both should. The choice is impossible for us, maybe easier for you as the former is a striker and the latter, such a wonderful midfielder. The Argentine faces a relatively easier defence, but the Chilean has an array of piercing talent to work for and work with. Amidst this clash of the giants, forget not David Silva. He has four goals and three assists in his last five and against Arsenal, he boasts of three important goals. This match definitely has everyone smacking their lips. Finally Everton square up to West Bromwich Albion. The last corresponding fixture was a goalless draw. Joleon Lescott, our Premium Pick for the match, will be up against his former club. Tony Pulis’ disciplined defensive paradigm makes it almost imperative to not overlook the potential the former England international can claim to possess. He scores goals in opportune moments, and against a side who haven’t exactly set the goal registers on fire, a clean sheet and bonus points look all the more likely. Wishing good luck to all readers and FPL managers, hope our recommendations match your priorities and expectations. ( via FPl Academy )
